Williams review follows Silverstone upgrade setback

Williams is reported to have opened a two-week review after its Silverstone upgrade fell short, with fresh questions over the team’s development rate.

Williams is reported to have begun a two-week review after its British Grand Prix upgrade failed to deliver the expected step at Silverstone. Motorsport.com reported team principal James Vowles said the new parts underperformed and that the weekend exposed further concerns for the Grove team.

The same outlet also reported Williams is examining both its upgrade process and the pace of its car development, with Vowles acknowledging the current rate is not enough for the team’s aims. Motorsport.com further said the team plans a reset before the Belgian Grand Prix following a difficult home weekend.

RaceFans reported Carlos Sainz called the event a wake-up call and said the upgrade had not delivered as expected. Sainz, a four-time Formula 1 race winner, sits 15th in the 2026 drivers' championship on six points.
