2026 Silverstone: Red Bull, FIA probe wing issue
Red Bull and the FIA are reportedly examining Max Verstappen’s Silverstone rear-wing issue after his British GP retirement, with Spa options open.
Red Bull is reportedly investigating the rear-wing issue that preceded Max Verstappen’s British Grand Prix retirement at Silverstone, with Autosport and Motorsport.com saying the team is keeping its options open for Spa. Those reports also said the team had not yet tied that review to a final decision on car specification for the next round.
Autosport and Motorsport.com further reported that the FIA has requested extra information and contacted Red Bull and Ferrari over rotating wing designs. The same outlets said Verstappen described the Silverstone problem as different from the rear-wing fault that affected him the previous race weekend, even though the outcome was another crash.
According to Autosport and Motorsport.com, Verstappen went off at Stowe with six laps remaining while running in contention for third place, after dealing with balance, electrical deployment and gearbox issues during the race. Verstappen is seventh in the 2026 drivers' championship on 76 points and has 71 wins from 242 Formula 1 starts, while Red Bull has 130 Grand Prix victories and six constructors' titles.
