Verstappen future talk grows at Red Bull

News - 2026-07-13 - By Jenny Marsh

Reports have increased over Max Verstappen’s Red Bull future after Silverstone, but no move is confirmed as the Dutchman sits seventh on 76 points.

Reports about Max Verstappen’s Red Bull future have grown, but no move has been confirmed. Formula1.com reported that his Silverstone DNF was his third retirement of 2026 and extended a winless run to nine races, while BBC Sport addressed questions about his future in a post-race F1 Q&A.

Other outlets have added to the speculation rather than confirming any change. BBC Sport reported Lando Norris’ view that McLaren would be a different environment for Verstappen, while Motorsport.com carried comments from Guenther Steiner and Jenson Button discussing his situation and possible alternatives, including Mercedes.

Autosport, however, reported that rumours linking Verstappen with McLaren did not fit the current contract picture. Verstappen, 28, has 71 wins, 51 poles and 129 podiums from 242 starts, and he is seventh in the 2026 drivers’ championship on 76 points. Red Bull has won 130 Grands Prix and six constructors’ titles.
