Italian GP 2026: Tsunoda avoids penalty

Yuki Tsunoda kept his Italian Grand Prix result after stewards investigated his position for the lap 6 restart at Monza. Motorsport.com reported the inquiry followed a red flag caused by Charles Leclerc’s lap 2 accident, with Tsunoda then taking his correct 14th grid slot but stopping at an angle toward the inside wall.

The same outlet reported that the Racing Bulls driver was summoned over the restart procedure and later escaped sanction. Tsunoda, born on 11 May 2000, raced in Formula 1 from 2021 to 2025 and is listed 20th in the 2026 drivers’ standings on one point.

The matter may not be finished. Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans each reported that Audi has notified the FIA of its intention to appeal the decision not to penalise Tsunoda, though that process was still unresolved in those reports.
