Spanish Grand Prix 2025: Piastri wins from pole
Oscar Piastri won the Spanish Grand Prix from pole by 2.471s over Lando Norris as McLaren secured a one-two and Piastri led the standings 186-176.
Oscar Piastri won the Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from pole, beating McLaren team-mate Lando Norris by 2.471 seconds. Piastri also set the fastest lap on lap 61 with a 1:15.743 as McLaren locked out the top two in round nine of the 2025 season.
Race
Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari, 10.455 seconds behind the winner, after starting seventh on the grid. George Russell took fourth for Mercedes from fourth on the grid, while Nico Hülkenberg climbed from 15th to fifth for Sauber and scored 10 points.
Lewis Hamilton placed sixth for Ferrari from fifth on the grid, and Isack Hadjar finished seventh for RB F1 Team after starting ninth. Pierre Gasly took eighth for Alpine F1 Team from eighth on the grid, Fernando Alonso scored Aston Martin's two points in ninth from 10th, and Max Verstappen dropped from third on the grid to 10th for Red Bull and took one point.
Key movers
Leclerc gained four places from P7 to P3, which was the biggest rise inside the top four finishers. Hülkenberg made up 10 positions from P15 to P5, the largest gain among the classified top-10 finishers listed in the results.
Championship
The result moved Piastri to 186 points in the drivers' championship after the race. Norris stayed second on 176 points, while Verstappen remained third on 137 after finishing 10th in Barcelona.
