Oscar Piastri took pole position for the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by 0.209s over Lando Norris. The McLaren pair secured a front-row lockout in qualifying for round 9 of the 2025 season.

Qualifying

Piastri set a 1:11.546 in Q3 to claim pole for McLaren after posting 1:12.551 in Q1 and 1:11.998 in Q2. Norris qualified second for McLaren with a 1:11.755 in Q3 after laps of 1:12.799 in Q1 and 1:12.056 in Q2.

Max Verstappen and George Russell shared the second row after both recorded 1:11.848 in Q3, with Verstappen classified third for Red Bull and Russell fourth for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton took fifth for Ferrari with a 1:12.045, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli placed sixth for Mercedes on 1:12.111.

Top 10

Charles Leclerc qualified seventh for Ferrari with a 1:12.131 in Q3, 0.086s behind Hamilton. Pierre Gasly put Alpine F1 Team eighth on a 1:12.199, Isack Hadjar took ninth for RB F1 Team with a 1:12.252, and Fernando Alonso completed the top 10 for Aston Martin on 1:12.284.

All 10 of those drivers reached Q3 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the qualifying session for round 9. The top four were covered by 0.302s, with Piastri ahead of Norris, Verstappen and Russell on the grid.
