Lando Norris secured Singapore Grand Prix 2024 pole at Marina Bay by 0.203s from Max Verstappen, with Mercedes locking out third and fourth.

Lando Norris took pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix on 22 September 2024 with a 1:29.525 lap for McLaren at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Max Verstappen qualified second for Red Bull, 0.203 seconds behind Norris on a 1:29.728.

Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton put Mercedes third with a 1:29.841 in Q3, and George Russell followed in fourth with a 1:29.867. Oscar Piastri qualified fifth for McLaren on a 1:29.953, while Nico Hülkenberg took sixth for Haas F1 Team with a 1:30.115.

Fernando Alonso placed seventh for Aston Martin with a 1:30.214, and Yuki Tsunoda qualified eighth for RB F1 Team on a 1:30.354. Norris had already led the final segment with his 1:29.525 after posting 1:30.002 in Q1 and 1:30.007 in Q2.

Grid implications

Ferrari filled the fifth row after Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz reached Q2 but did not record Q3 laps. Leclerc qualified ninth with a best Q2 time of 1:29.747, and Sainz took 10th with a 1:30.108.

Key names to note

Verstappen advanced through Q1 in 1:30.157 and set a 1:29.680 in Q2 before ending qualifying second. Mercedes placed both cars in the top four, with Hamilton ahead of Russell by 0.026 seconds in the final session.
