Max Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 from pole by 13.643s over Sergio Pérez, extending his drivers' championship lead after round 2.
Max Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on 9 March 2024 for Red Bull, finishing 13.643 seconds ahead of Sergio Pérez at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Charles Leclerc took third for Ferrari at +18.639 and added the fastest lap on lap 50 with a 1:31.632.
Race
Verstappen converted pole position into victory with a race time of 1:20:43.273, while Pérez climbed from third on the grid to second for a Red Bull one-two. Leclerc started second and finished third, and Oscar Piastri gained one place from fifth on the grid to fourth for McLaren at +32.007.
Fernando Alonso started fourth and finished fifth for Aston Martin at +35.759, while George Russell moved from seventh to sixth for Mercedes at +39.936. Lando Norris dropped from sixth on the grid to eighth for McLaren, and Lewis Hamilton finished ninth for Mercedes after starting eighth.
Key movers
Oliver Bearman delivered the biggest rise in the top 10, taking seventh for Ferrari from 11th on the grid at +42.679. Nico Hülkenberg also moved forward, scoring the final point in 10th for Haas F1 Team after starting 15th and finishing 1:16.996 behind the winner.
Championship
After round 2, Verstappen led the drivers' championship with 51 points. Pérez held second on 36 points, and Leclerc sat third on 28 points.
