Max Verstappen won the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix from 17th, 19.477s clear of Esteban Ocon, and extended his drivers' championship lead to 393 points.
Max Verstappen won the São Paulo Grand Prix on 3 November 2024 at Autódromo José Carlos Pace, finishing 19.477 seconds ahead of Esteban Ocon. The Red Bull driver started 17th and also set the fastest lap on lap 67 with a 1:20.472.
Race
Ocon took second for Alpine F1 Team from fourth on the grid, while Pierre Gasly climbed from 13th to third to complete an Alpine double podium. George Russell finished fourth for Mercedes after starting second, and Charles Leclerc took fifth for Ferrari from sixth on the grid.
Lando Norris started from pole position for McLaren but finished sixth, 31.372 seconds behind Verstappen. Yuki Tsunoda came home seventh for RB F1 Team from third on the grid, Oscar Piastri was eighth for McLaren from eighth, and Liam Lawson finished ninth for RB F1 Team after starting fifth.
Key movers
Verstappen made the biggest gain at the front by converting 17th on the grid into victory and adding 26 points. Gasly also moved forward into the top three from 13th, while Lewis Hamilton recovered from 14th to 10th for Mercedes and took the final point.
Championship
The result left Verstappen leading the drivers' championship on 393 points after round 21. Norris remained second on 331 points, and Leclerc held third on 307 points.
