Red Bull has appointed Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes as junior programme director, with multiple outlets reporting Mercedes confirmed the Frenchman's exit.

Red Bull has appointed Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes as its Formula 1 junior programme director. BBC Sport reported that Lagrue is leaving Mercedes to join Red Bull, while Autosport and Motorsport.com said Mercedes confirmed his departure and that he will lead Red Bull's junior driver programme.

BBC Sport noted Lagrue's role in identifying Kimi Antonelli during his time with Mercedes' young driver operation. Autosport and Motorsport.com both reported the Frenchman will move across to oversee Red Bull's pathway for junior talent.

The switch is a notable move between two established Formula 1 teams. Red Bull, the Austrian constructor founded in 2005, has won 130 Grands Prix and six constructors' titles, while Mercedes has raced across 19 seasons from 1954 to 2026 with 138 wins and eight titles.
