Red Bull a year after Horner exit: what changed
Autosport and Motorsport.com have revisited Red Bull a year after Christian Horner’s reported exit, with Laurent Mekies in place and 2025 form debated.
Autosport and Motorsport.com have revisited Red Bull’s position one year after Christian Horner’s reported removal as team principal on 9 July 2025. Both outlets said Horner’s 20-year spell in charge ended then, and both reported that Laurent Mekies was installed as the new team boss.
Their retrospective pieces assessed Red Bull’s direction rather than offering a single conclusion. Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that the team improved in 2025, with Max Verstappen finishing two points short of a fifth drivers’ title. Red Bull has competed in Formula 1 since 2005, and the Austrian constructor has recorded 130 Grand Prix wins and six constructors’ championships.
Separately, Autosport reported that Horner is set to attend the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, which would be his first race weekend appearance since leaving Red Bull last July, alongside the launch of his memoir.
