Lando Norris took pole position for the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix at Madring, beating Andrea Kimi Antonelli by 0.011s. Formula1.com reported that it was Norris’ third pole of the season, while BBC Sport said Max Verstappen qualified third behind the McLaren and Mercedes drivers.

Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans all reported that Norris took pole from Antonelli by 0.011s at Formula 1’s first visit to the Madring circuit. RaceFans also reported that George Russell qualified sixth for Mercedes.

Norris arrived in Madrid fourth in the 2026 drivers’ championship on 171 points, with Antonelli leading on 267 and Russell second on 201. The McLaren driver now has 16 career poles from 161 Grands Prix, while Antonelli came into the weekend with five poles in 33 Formula 1 entries.
