Norris tests McLaren hypercar at Portimao - reports

Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans reported Lando Norris tested McLaren’s MCL-HY at Portimao on Monday ahead of Azerbaijan.

Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans reported that Lando Norris ran McLaren’s MCL-HY hypercar at Portimao on Monday. Autosport and Motorsport.com said it was his first full test in the car, while Motorsport.com had previously reported the session was due to take place at the Algarve International Circuit on 14 September ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

RaceFans reported Norris had his first run in McLaren’s World Endurance Championship hypercar after the Spanish Grand Prix. Norris is fourth in the 2026 Formula 1 drivers’ championship on 186 points. Born on 13 November 1999, he has made 161 Grand Prix starts for McLaren from 2019 to 2026, with 11 wins and 16 pole positions.
