BBC Sport, Autosport and RaceFans reported that Lando Norris apologised to Franco Colapinto after calling for a ban over Baku.

BBC Sport, Autosport and RaceFans reported that Lando Norris apologised to Franco Colapinto after comments he made following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Those reports said Norris had previously called for a ban after the Baku incident involving the Alpine driver.

Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Norris had said Colapinto deserved at least a one-race ban after the lap 36 restart collision at Turn 1 in Baku. RaceFans reported that Norris also said Colapinto should not be in Formula 1 before later apologising.

Norris went into this point of the 2026 season fourth in the drivers' championship on 186 points. The McLaren driver has raced in Formula 1 since 2019, with 161 Grands Prix, 11 wins and 16 poles, while Colapinto was 12th in the standings on 27 points.
