Miami Grand Prix 2025: Piastri leads McLaren 1-2
Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Miami Grand Prix from fourth on the grid, leading McLaren team-mate Lando Norris as he extended his drivers' lead.
Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Miami Grand Prix for McLaren, beating Lando Norris by 4.630 seconds at the Miami International Autodrome. The round 6 result put Piastri on 131 points in the drivers' championship, ahead of Norris on 115 and Max Verstappen on 99.
Race
Piastri started fourth and took his 25 points with a winning time of 1:28:51.587, while Norris started second and completed a McLaren 1-2 in second place. Norris also set the fastest lap on lap 36 with a 1:29.746.
George Russell finished third for Mercedes after starting fifth, 37.644 seconds behind the winner. Verstappen started from pole position for Red Bull but finished fourth at +39.956.
Key movers
Alexander Albon gained two places from seventh on the grid to finish fifth for Williams, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli dropped from third to sixth for Mercedes. Charles Leclerc moved from eighth to seventh for Ferrari, while Lewis Hamilton climbed from 12th to eighth in the second Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz finished ninth for Williams after starting sixth, and Yuki Tsunoda took the final point in 10th for Red Bull from 10th on the grid. All top-10 finishers were classified as Finished in the official result.
Championship
After six rounds, Piastri headed the drivers' championship with 131 points. Norris held second on 115 points, and Verstappen remained third on 99.
