Miami Grand Prix 2025: Verstappen on pole

Max Verstappen took pole position for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix with a Q3 lap of 1:26.204, 0.065s ahead of Lando Norris at the Miami International Autodrome. Andrea Kimi Antonelli qualified third for Mercedes on 1:26.271, 0.002s behind Norris.
Qualifying
Lando Norris put McLaren on the front row with a 1:26.269 in Q3, while Oscar Piastri qualified fourth with a 1:26.375. George Russell placed the second Mercedes fifth on 1:26.385 after lapping 0.010s slower than Piastri in the final segment.
Carlos Sainz led Williams in sixth on 1:26.569 and Alexander Albon followed in seventh on 1:26.682. Charles Leclerc qualified eighth for Ferrari with a 1:26.754, while Esteban Ocon took ninth for Haas F1 Team on 1:26.824 and Yuki Tsunoda was 10th for Red Bull on 1:26.943.
Front-row gap
Verstappen progressed through the session with laps of 1:26.870 in Q1, 1:26.643 in Q2 and 1:26.204 in Q3 for Red Bull. Norris opened with a 1:26.955 in Q1, improved to 1:26.499 in Q2 and finished with 1:26.269 in Q3 for McLaren.
Antonelli reached Q3 with a 1:27.077 in Q1 and a 1:26.606 in Q2 before securing third with a 1:26.271. Piastri set 1:27.006 in Q1, 1:26.269 in Q2 and 1:26.375 in Q3 to qualify fourth.
Grid
The top five on the grid were Verstappen, Norris, Antonelli, Piastri and Russell after all five reached Q3. Behind them, Sainz qualified sixth, Albon seventh, Leclerc eighth, Ocon ninth and Tsunoda 10th.
