Miami Grand Prix 2024: Verstappen takes pole
Max Verstappen took Miami Grand Prix 2024 pole for Red Bull by 0.141s from Charles Leclerc, with Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes filling the top 10.
Max Verstappen took pole position for the Miami Grand Prix on 5 May 2024 with a Red Bull Q3 lap of 1:27.241, beating Charles Leclerc by 0.141s. Leclerc put Ferrari on the front row with 1:27.382 at the Miami International Autodrome.
Qualifying
Carlos Sainz qualified third for Ferrari with a 1:27.455, while Sergio Pérez took fourth for Red Bull on 1:27.460. Lando Norris secured fifth for McLaren with 1:27.594, and Oscar Piastri followed in sixth with 1:27.675.
George Russell led Mercedes in seventh with a 1:28.067 after reaching Q3, and Lewis Hamilton qualified eighth with a 1:28.107. Nico Hülkenberg placed Haas F1 Team ninth on 1:28.146, while Yuki Tsunoda completed the top 10 for RB F1 Team with a 1:28.192.

Verstappen was quickest in every segment he completed for Red Bull, posting 1:27.689 in Q1, 1:27.566 in Q2 and 1:27.241 in Q3. Leclerc improved from 1:28.081 in Q1 to 1:27.533 in Q2 before his 1:27.382 final lap, and Sainz moved from 1:27.937 in Q1 to his 1:27.455 Q3 time.
Pérez recorded 1:27.772 in Q1 and 1:27.839 in Q2 before taking fourth in Q3, while Norris and Piastri gave McLaren a third-row lockout in fifth and sixth. Mercedes filled the fourth row with Russell seventh and Hamilton eighth, and Hülkenberg and Tsunoda sealed the final two Q3 places in ninth and 10th.
