Carlos Sainz took pole position for Ferrari at the Mexico City Grand Prix 2024 by 0.225s over Max Verstappen. The session at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez was held on 27 October 2024, with Sainz setting a 1:15.946 lap in Q3.
Qualifying
Verstappen qualified second for Red Bull with a 1:16.171 in Q3 after posting a 1:16.514 in Q2. Lando Norris took third for McLaren on a 1:16.260, while Charles Leclerc placed fourth for Ferrari with a 1:16.265.
Ferrari put both cars in the top four, with Sainz on pole and Leclerc alongside the second row. Norris had been quickest of the four in Q1 with a 1:16.505, while Sainz led the decisive Q3 phase.
Front row
George Russell qualified fifth for Mercedes with a 1:16.356, and Lewis Hamilton followed in sixth with a 1:16.651. Kevin Magnussen reached Q3 for Haas F1 Team and took seventh on a 1:16.886, with Pierre Gasly eighth for Alpine F1 Team on 1:16.892.
Top 10
Alexander Albon secured ninth for Williams with a 1:17.065 in Q3. Nico Hülkenberg completed the top 10 for Haas F1 Team with a 1:17.365 after a 1:16.995 lap in Q2.
