Norris says McLaren still lacks title-level car

Lando Norris says McLaren still lacks the car needed for an F1 title fight despite back-to-back wins in Hungary and the Dutch Grand Prix.

Lando Norris said McLaren still does not have the car he needs to fight for a championship despite back-to-back wins. BBC Sport reported he made that point after his Dutch Grand Prix victory, which followed another win in Hungary.

Motorsport.com reported Norris also said he is performing better on and off the track this season than in his 2025 title-winning campaign. RaceFans reported he still considers the McLaren difficult to drive, even during this recent run, while Autosport also covered his view that the car is not yet at title-fight level.

Norris is fourth in the 2026 drivers' championship on 159 points. The McLaren driver has raced in Formula 1 since 2019 and, across 161 Grands Prix, has recorded 11 wins and 16 pole positions.
