2026 Italian Grand Prix: Ferrari cools Monza row
BBC Sport and Autosport reported Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have drawn a line under their Monza clash as Ferrari rejects crisis talk.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have moved to defuse the fallout from their Monza clash. BBC Sport reported that Hamilton said the pair had “squashed” the issue after the Italian Grand Prix, while Autosport reported that Leclerc accepted blame for the opening-chicane contact and said he had gone “too far”.
Autosport also reported that Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur spoke to both drivers after Monza and rejected claims of an internal crisis. RaceFans reported that Leclerc felt the attention on the Ferrari intra-team battle had at times been unfair.
The episode came with both drivers still separated in the 2026 standings. Hamilton is third in the drivers’ championship on 191 points, while Leclerc is fifth on 167; Ferrari is in its 77th Formula 1 season and has 250 wins and 16 constructors’ titles.
