2026 British Grand Prix: Leclerc boosts Ferrari
Charles Leclerc’s 2026 British Grand Prix win lifted Ferrari after recent struggles, while Fred Vasseur played down title talk ahead of Spa.
Charles Leclerc’s British Grand Prix win has been presented as a significant lift for Ferrari after a difficult run. RaceFans reported that Leclerc viewed the result as an answer to recent criticism, while Autosport and Motorsport.com said the victory followed set-up changes and his efforts to recover confidence in the SF-26. Leclerc came into the weekend fourth in the 2026 drivers’ championship on 108 points.
Ferrari’s mood had already improved after Lewis Hamilton’s win in Barcelona. BBC Sport reported that Hamilton’s first Ferrari grand prix victory helped create belief around the team, and Motorsport.com said Leclerc’s Silverstone result could affect the shape of the title fight if Ferrari sustains its progress. Hamilton was third in the standings on 147 points before Silverstone.
Even so, Ferrari has tried to cool the wider reaction. Motorsport.com reported that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff expects Ferrari to keep challenging through the rest of the 2026 season, while the same outlet said team principal Fred Vasseur rejected early championship talk and told the team to focus on Spa.
