Goodwood: Lawson reported in Bruce McLaren GT40
Motorsport.com reported Liam Lawson drove Bruce McLaren’s Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 at Goodwood, with the New Zealander said to be left shaking.
Motorsport.com reported that Liam Lawson drove Bruce McLaren’s Le Mans-winning #2 Ford GT40 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The outlet said the Racing Bulls Formula 1 driver called the experience “indescribable” and said it left him “shaking.”
Lawson, born on 11 February 2002, has made 44 Formula 1 starts between 2023 and 2026 for three teams. He is 10th in the 2026 drivers' championship on 39 points.
The reported run carried added significance because of the car’s connection to Bruce McLaren. McLaren, also from New Zealand, competed in Formula 1 from 1958 to 1970 as a driver, designer and team owner, making 103 entries and recording four wins and 27 podiums.
