Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Japanese Grand Prix from pole by 13.722s over Oscar Piastri and extended his drivers' championship lead to 72 points.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit from pole position, finishing 13.722 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri. The Mercedes driver completed the 29 March 2026 race in 1:28:03.403 and also set the fastest lap with a 1:32.432 on lap 49.

Race

Piastri took second for McLaren from third on the grid, while Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari after starting fourth. George Russell followed in fourth for Mercedes from second on the grid, 15.754 seconds behind Antonelli, and Lando Norris placed fifth for McLaren from fifth.

Lewis Hamilton finished sixth for Ferrari from sixth on the grid, and Pierre Gasly took seventh for Alpine F1 Team after starting seventh. Max Verstappen climbed from 11th on the grid to eighth for Red Bull, while Liam Lawson gained five places from 14th to ninth for RB F1 Team. Esteban Ocon completed the points in 10th for Haas F1 Team after starting 12th.

Championship

Antonelli's win and fastest lap lifted him to 72 points at the head of the drivers' championship after round three. Russell stayed second on 63 points after finishing fourth at Suzuka, and Leclerc held third on 49 points after taking the final podium place.
