Max Verstappen took pole position for the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit with a Q3 lap of 1:26.983. Lando Norris qualified second for McLaren, 0.012s slower than Verstappen on a 1:26.995.

Qualifying

Oscar Piastri completed a McLaren two-three in third place with a 1:27.027, which left him 0.044s away from pole. Charles Leclerc qualified fourth for Ferrari on 1:27.299, while George Russell took fifth for Mercedes with a 1:27.318.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli put the second Mercedes sixth on a 1:27.555 after reaching Q3. Isack Hadjar qualified seventh for RB F1 Team with a 1:27.569, and Lewis Hamilton took eighth for Ferrari with a 1:27.610.

Front-row fight

Norris led the McLaren challenge after setting the quickest Q2 time among the front row pair with a 1:27.146. Verstappen then improved from 1:27.502 in Q2 to 1:26.983 in Q3 to secure pole for Red Bull.

Top 10 grid

Alexander Albon placed Williams ninth with a 1:27.615 in Q3 after progressing from Q1 on 1:28.218. Oliver Bearman completed the top 10 for Haas F1 Team with a 1:27.867, having reached Q3 with a 1:27.711 lap in Q2.
