Max Verstappen won the Italian Grand Prix 2025 by 19.207s from Lando Norris, with Oscar Piastri staying top of the drivers' championship after round 16.

Max Verstappen won the Italian Grand Prix at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on 7 September 2025, finishing 19.207 seconds ahead of Lando Norris. Oscar Piastri took third for McLaren, and the result left Piastri leading the drivers' championship after round 16.

Race

Verstappen started first and completed the race in 1:13:24.325 for Red Bull. Norris started second for McLaren and finished second at +19.207, and he also set the fastest lap with a 1:20.901 on lap 53.

Piastri started third and finished third at +21.351 to put both McLaren drivers on the podium. Charles Leclerc finished fourth for Ferrari at +25.624 from fourth on the grid, while George Russell took fifth for Mercedes at +32.881 after starting fifth.

Grid to finish

Lewis Hamilton climbed from 10th on the grid to sixth for Ferrari and scored eight points. Alexander Albon gained seven places from 14th to seventh for Williams, while Isack Hadjar moved from 19th to 10th for RB F1 Team and took the final point.

Gabriel Bortoleto finished eighth for Sauber after starting seventh, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli came home ninth for Mercedes from sixth on the grid. All 10 listed finishers had the status Finished.

Championship

After round 16, Piastri led the drivers' championship with 324 points. Norris was second on 293 points, and Verstappen was third on 230 points.
