Charles Leclerc won the Italian Grand Prix on 1 September 2024 at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for Ferrari, finishing 2.664 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris started from pole for McLaren and finished third, 6.153 seconds behind Leclerc, while setting the fastest lap on lap 53 in 1:21.432.
Race
Leclerc started fourth on the grid and scored 25 points with a winning time of 1:14:40.727. Piastri started second and took 18 points for McLaren, while Norris added 16 points from pole position with third place.
Ferrari placed two cars in the top four as Carlos Sainz finished fourth from fifth on the grid at +15.621. Lewis Hamilton finished fifth for Mercedes from sixth on the grid, and Max Verstappen took sixth for Red Bull after starting seventh at +37.932.
George Russell dropped from third on the grid to seventh for Mercedes at +39.715, while Sergio Pérez finished eighth for Red Bull from eighth on the grid. Alexander Albon finished ninth for Williams from ninth, and Kevin Magnussen gained three places from 13th to 10th for Haas F1 Team.
Championship
Verstappen remained first in the drivers' championship after round 16 with 303 points despite finishing sixth at Monza. Norris stayed second on 241 points after his third-place finish, and Leclerc remained third with 217 points after his victory.
