2026 Hungarian GP: Aston Martin's reported upgrade

Formula1.com, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported Aston Martin introduced a Hungary update, with Adrian Newey targeting short-term progress.

Formula1.com, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Aston Martin brought a significant update package to the Hungarian Grand Prix. Formula1.com reported Adrian Newey said the immediate aim was to reach “a point of respectability”, while Autosport and Motorsport.com reported the Hungary changes were only the first part of a wider new-car direction.

Autosport also reported that Newey had described Aston Martin’s start to the 2026 season as a “nightmare” and “disastrous”. The same outlet reported chief trackside officer Mike Krack called the Hungary package a big undertaking and said the team hoped to have both cars fitted with the new parts in time.

The update arrives with Aston Martin still chasing its first Formula 1 race win and first constructors' title. Fernando Alonso went into the weekend 18th in the drivers' championship on one point, while Lance Stroll was 22nd on zero; Alonso has 32 career wins, and Stroll has one pole position and three podiums.
