Lando Norris won the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix for McLaren ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli after Oscar Piastri’s clash with Carlos Sainz and retirement.

Lando Norris won the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix for McLaren, with Formula1.com and BBC Sport reporting that Max Verstappen finished second and Kimi Antonelli third. Formula1.com said it was Norris and McLaren’s first Grand Prix victory of 2026, and Norris arrived in Budapest fifth in the drivers’ championship on 128 points.

Formula1.com reported that Oscar Piastri went from fighting for victory to retirement after contact with Carlos Sainz’s Williams. Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that the incident happened in blue-flag traffic, while both outlets also said Piastri later retired with a gearbox failure. Piastri came into the event seventh in the standings on 92 points, with Sainz 15th on six.

Autosport and Motorsport.com also reported that Sainz received a five-second penalty for the collision. RaceFans reported that Antonelli’s third place extended his drivers’ championship lead to 50 points.
