News - 2026-07-26 - By Jenny Marsh

Reports from Hungary said Ferrari led both Friday sessions as red flags, crashes and an overnight Turn 1 repair disrupted running at the Hungaroring.

Reports from BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com said Ferrari set the pace through Friday practice at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Charles Leclerc was fastest in FP1, while BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com said Lewis Hamilton led Leclerc in FP2. Hamilton arrived in Hungary second in the drivers' championship on 159 points, with Leclerc fourth on 126.

Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Franco Colapinto crashed in FP2 and brought out red flags. BBC Sport separately reported a heavy Friday practice crash for Pierre Gasly at Spa, not in Hungary, so that incident was not part of the Hungaroring sessions. Colapinto went into the weekend 12th in the standings on 19 points, while Gasly was ninth on 42.

In FP1, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Lance Stroll stopped with a suspected suspension failure on Aston Martin’s updated car, and Motorsport.com said the damage kept him out of FP2. Stroll started the weekend 22nd in the championship on 0 points. Autosport and Motorsport.com also reported that Turn 1 at the Hungaroring was partially resurfaced overnight after driver complaints on Friday.
