Ferrari set the early pace at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc led FP1 and Lewis Hamilton topped FP2, with Aston Martin’s upgrade also in focus.

Ferrari set the pace across Friday at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Charles Leclerc was fastest in FP1 before Lewis Hamilton led a Ferrari one-two in FP2 from Leclerc. Hamilton arrived in Hungary second in the drivers' championship on 159 points, with Leclerc fourth on 126, and RaceFans reported Ferrari ended Friday with the quickest time in both sessions.

Aston Martin drew attention with a major update package at the Hungaroring. BBC Sport reported that Fernando Alonso said he was optimistic about the new parts, while Autosport and Motorsport.com reported Adrian Newey described the Hungary package as the first part of the team's revised AMR26. The same outlets also reported Lance Stroll suffered a suspected suspension failure in FP1 and could not take part in FP2.

Elsewhere, Autosport reported that Turn 1 at the Hungaroring was partially resurfaced overnight after complaints from drivers on Friday. Saturday morning then brought a different name to the top of the times, with Autosport and RaceFans reporting Lando Norris was fastest in final practice ahead of Hamilton.
