Hungarian GP Turn 1 repaired after complaints
Autosport and Motorsport.com reported overnight repairs at Hungaroring Turn 1 after driver complaints, with corner naming also noted for the track's 40th year.
Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Hungaroring officials carried out overnight repairs at Turn 1 after drivers raised concerns following Friday running at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Both outlets said the work involved a partial resurfacing of that section of the circuit.
Those reports added that some areas of the track had already been resurfaced within the past two years, and that a hot, dry summer was understood to have contributed to the surface issue at Turn 1. The reported work was limited to that corner rather than a full-lap resurfacing.
In a separate report, Motorsport.com said the Hungaroring has officially named every corner to mark 40 years of Formula 1 races at the venue. It reported that half of the turns now carry the names of figures including Nelson Piquet, Lewis Hamilton, Nigel Mansell, Jean Alesi, Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna and Ferenc Szisz.
