Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Franco Colapinto crashed in FP2, triggering a stoppage. Colapinto arrived in Hungary 12th in the 2026 standings on 19 points, with 36 Formula 1 starts and a best finish of sixth. The same reports said George Russell struggled with rear balance and Kimi Antonelli had rear locking during the session.

Aston Martin also lost track time on Friday. Motorsport.com reported that Lance Stroll missed FP2 after a suspension failure. Stroll came into the weekend 22nd in the standings on 0 points, and his Formula 1 record stood at 200 Grands Prix, one pole position, three podiums and a best finish of third.
