2026 Hungarian Grand Prix: Hamilton, Antonelli drop
Lewis Hamilton and Andrea Kimi Antonelli took three-place grid penalties after qualifying in Hungary, with Lando Norris on pole by 0.012s.
Lewis Hamilton and Andrea Kimi Antonelli both received three-place grid penalties after qualifying for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, according to BBC Sport and Autosport. Autosport reported Hamilton was penalised for impeding Oscar Piastri in Q3, while Antonelli was sanctioned for a yellow-flag infringement.
Autosport also reported that Lando Norris took pole position at the Hungaroring by 0.012s from Hamilton. That meant Hamilton, who had qualified second, and Antonelli, who had qualified fourth, both moved back on the grid after the stewards' decisions.
Antonelli arrived in Hungary leading the drivers' championship on 219 points, with Hamilton second on 169 and Piastri seventh on 92. Antonelli is in his second Formula 1 season with Mercedes, while Hamilton is competing in his 20th season in the series.
