Lando Norris won the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix for his first victory of the season after Oscar Piastri lost the lead and retired with a gearbox failure.
Lando Norris won the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix for his first victory of the season, with BBC Sport and Autosport both reporting that the result also gave McLaren its first win of the year. Autosport also reported that Norris had taken pole position by 0.012s over Lewis Hamilton before losing the lead on the opening lap and recovering to win. Norris arrived in Hungary fifth in the drivers' championship on 128 points, and the McLaren driver’s win was the 11th of his Formula 1 career.
Autosport reported that Oscar Piastri led the early phase of the race, then lost track position amid lapped traffic before retiring with a gearbox failure. Piastri went into the event seventh in the standings on 92 points. Autosport’s race report listed Max Verstappen second and Andrea Kimi Antonelli third.
