Honda boss change reported in F1 engine reset

BBC Sport and Autosport reported Honda has changed leadership on its F1 power unit project, with Yoichiro Fu linked to replacing Tetsushi Kakuda.

BBC Sport and Autosport reported that Honda has changed the leadership of its Formula 1 power unit programme. Both outlets said engine development leader Tetsushi Kakuda is being replaced, while Autosport reported that his assistant Yoichiro Fu is set to take over in what it described as an organisational reshuffle.

BBC Sport linked the reported move to Honda’s difficult start to its return campaign this season. Autosport also identified Honda as Aston Martin’s engine partner and said the manufacturer is trying to move back into contention.

Honda competed in Formula 1 across eight seasons from 1964 to 2008, taking three wins and no titles. Aston Martin has raced across eight active seasons from 1959 to 2026 and is still chasing its first Formula 1 victory and constructors’ championship.
