Honda reshuffles F1 power unit leadership

Honda confirmed a change to its Formula 1 power unit leadership, with BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com reporting Yoichiro Furuya will replace Tetsushi Kakuda.

Honda has confirmed changes to the leadership of its Formula 1 power unit development programme. Formula1.com reported the announcement, while BBC Sport said the move came after a slow start to the Japanese manufacturer’s return to Formula 1 this season.

Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Tetsushi Kakuda is set to be replaced by his current assistant, Yoichiro Furuya. Both outlets also noted that Honda is Aston Martin’s engine partner as the manufacturer works on its current Formula 1 project.

Honda was founded in 1948 and raced in Formula 1 across eight seasons from 1964 to 2008, taking three wins and no titles. Aston Martin, a British constructor now in its eighth active Formula 1 season across 1959-2026, is still chasing its first Grand Prix win and first constructors’ championship.
