Monza 2026: Hamilton and Leclerc calm Ferrari row

Hamilton and Leclerc have moved to ease the Monza fallout after their Ferrari clash, while team-orders questions persist in the 2026 title fight.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have moved to reduce the tension after their clash at the Italian Grand Prix. BBC Sport reported that Hamilton said the issue had been resolved, while Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans reported that Leclerc accepted responsibility for the opening-lap incident at Monza.

Autosport and Motorsport.com also reported that Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur spoke to both drivers after the race and pushed back on claims of a wider internal problem. The Monza incident then fed into a broader debate over how Ferrari should handle its drivers for the rest of the season.

Hamilton is third in the 2026 drivers’ championship on 191 points, with Leclerc fifth on 155. BBC Sport, Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Hamilton said Ferrari was too far into the season to start backing one driver over the other, and that he was not seeking preferential treatment. Hamilton is in his 20th Formula 1 season, while Leclerc's career record stands at nine wins and 24 pole positions.
