Haas 2027 seats open as Ocon weighs options
Reports from Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans say Haas has not settled its 2027 line-up, with Esteban Ocon describing himself as a free agent.
Haas has yet to confirm its 2027 driver line-up, according to reports from Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans. Those outlets said Esteban Ocon has described himself as a free agent for next season, is speaking to other teams, and has not ruled out staying with Haas. No decision has been announced by the team.
Ocon, 29, has made 189 Formula 1 starts, with one win and four podiums, and he sits 18th in the 2026 drivers' championship on three points. Haas has raced in Formula 1 since 2016 and, across 11 seasons, has not recorded a grand prix win or a constructors' title.
Separately, Autosport reported that team principal Ayao Komatsu said Haas was making positive progress in sponsorship talks as it tries to move its budget closer to Formula 1's cost cap. That leaves the team balancing commercial planning with an unconfirmed driver choice for 2027.
