Haas leaves 2027 line-up open amid budget push
Reports say Haas has not fixed its 2027 driver line-up, with Esteban Ocon speaking to other teams as the squad also seeks more sponsorship.
Haas has not confirmed its 2027 Formula 1 driver line-up, according to reports, with Autosport saying Esteban Ocon has described himself as a free agent and has been talking to other teams while still leaving open a stay with the squad. Ocon is 16th in the 2026 drivers' championship on seven points, and the French driver has made 189 Formula 1 starts with one win and four podiums.
Autosport also reported that team principal Ayao Komatsu said Haas was making progress in talks aimed at bringing the team’s budget closer to Formula 1’s cost cap through new sponsorship. Haas was founded in 2014 and has raced in Formula 1 since 2016, with no grand prix wins or constructors' titles in that span.
Separately, Motorsport.com reported comments from 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, who took a pessimistic view of Ocon’s options beyond Haas. That remains outside any official announcement, and Haas has yet to confirm its 2027 plans.
