Fornaroli pushes for McLaren F1 race seat
Formula1.com reported Leonardo Fornaroli said eight months in McLaren’s Driver Development Programme helped his progress as he works toward Formula 1.
Leonardo Fornaroli’s bid for a McLaren Formula 1 race seat remains unconfirmed, but Formula1.com reported the Italian has been discussing his progress after eight months in the team’s Driver Development Programme. The report said Fornaroli viewed that period as helpful as he continued to work toward a place on the F1 grid.
According to Formula1.com, Fornaroli has focused on learning as much as possible through his testing and development work with McLaren. There has been no confirmed announcement of a race seat, so any move into a full-time F1 drive remains a reported ambition rather than a settled plan.
McLaren’s team name traces back to Bruce McLaren, who competed in Formula 1 from 1958 to 1970. The New Zealander made 103 entries and recorded four wins plus 27 podiums during his grand prix career.
