News - 2026-07-13 - By Jenny Marsh

BBC Sport reported the FIA passed a presidency term-limit proposal and flagged Austria for heat, while F1 weighed a 2026 race recovery.

BBC Sport reported the FIA approved a proposal to remove presidential term limits by a majority of more than 90%. The outlet also reported that the governing body declared this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix a heat-hazard race.

On the calendar, Autosport reported Formula 1 wants a decision before the summer break on whether one of the postponed Middle Eastern rounds can return to the 2026 schedule, with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia under consideration. RaceFans separately reported that Bahrain’s government still hopes its cancelled 2026 race can be held before the season ends.

RaceFans also reported that the 2027 calendar could reach 34 races if more sprint events are added, though that remains unconfirmed.
