Ferrari title talk rises after Spain and Britain wins
Ferrari’s wins with Lewis Hamilton in Spain and Charles Leclerc at Silverstone have lifted 2026 title talk, though Fred Vasseur is urging caution.
Ferrari’s wins with Lewis Hamilton in Spain and Charles Leclerc at the British Grand Prix have increased discussion around the 2026 title race. BBC Sport reported that Hamilton’s Barcelona victory changed the mood around Ferrari, and also reported George Russell’s view that Hamilton and Ferrari are “a huge threat” in this year’s championship. Leclerc, a nine-time grand prix winner, is fourth on 108 points, while Hamilton is third on 147.
Fred Vasseur has pushed back on bigger conclusions for now. Autosport and Motorsport.com both reported that the Ferrari team principal does not want to talk up a title fight yet because the team’s form has fluctuated. Those outlets also reported debate around Ferrari’s upgrade programme after comments involving Toto Wolff, while Ferrari’s recent results have still moved the team further into the championship conversation. Ferrari remains Formula 1’s longest-standing constructor, with 250 wins and 16 constructors’ titles across 77 seasons.
