Max Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2024 from pole by 0.725s over Lando Norris, extending his drivers' championship lead after round 7.

Max Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari on 19 May 2024, finishing 0.725 seconds ahead of Lando Norris. Charles Leclerc took third for Ferrari, 7.916 seconds behind the winner, as round 7 ended with Verstappen still leading the drivers' championship.

Race

Verstappen started from pole position for Red Bull and completed the race in 1:25:25.252, while Norris held second from P2 on the grid for McLaren. Leclerc also matched his grid slot in third for Ferrari, and Oscar Piastri gained one place from fifth to fourth in the second McLaren.

Carlos Sainz slipped from fourth on the grid to fifth at the flag for Ferrari, 22.325 seconds off the lead. Lewis Hamilton moved forward from P8 to P6 for Mercedes, while George Russell finished seventh after starting sixth and set the fastest lap on lap 54 with a 1:18.589.

Sergio Pérez made up three places from 11th on the grid to eighth for Red Bull and scored four points. Lance Stroll climbed from 13th to ninth for Aston Martin, and Yuki Tsunoda took the final point in 10th for RB F1 Team after starting seventh and finishing one lap down.

Championship

The result moved Verstappen to 161 points at the top of the drivers' championship after seven rounds. Leclerc held second on 113 points, and Pérez remained third on 107.
