Motorsport.com reported Williams was dealing with the fallout from a late-race collision between Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, where Lando Norris won for McLaren. The outlet said the two team-mates made contact in the closing stages, with Sainz later accepting responsibility and receiving a 10-second penalty.

The same publication reported that team principal James Vowles said Williams also had to take some of the blame for the incident. In a separate report, Motorsport.com said Albon played down any lingering tension and that the pair cleared the air over breakfast on Monday.

Sainz is in his 12th Formula 1 season in 2026 and went into this point of the year 16th in the drivers' championship on six points. Across 241 starts, the Spaniard has recorded four wins, five pole positions and 29 podiums.
