Franco Colapinto reports best Alpine weekend in Spain

Formula1.com and Motorsport.com reported Franco Colapinto called the Spanish Grand Prix his best Alpine weekend of 2026 after Q3 and seventh place.

Formula1.com reported that Franco Colapinto described the Spanish Grand Prix as probably his best weekend of the 2026 season with Alpine after taking seventh place. The Argentine, 23, left that event 12th in the drivers' championship on 27 points, and his best Formula 1 finish remains sixth from 36 starts.

Motorsport.com also reported that Colapinto reached Q3 in Spain and said studying Pierre Gasly's qualifying performance at Monza helped him make progress. That report said the comparison with his Alpine team-mate gave him a clearer reference after earlier qualifying difficulties.

Gasly provided the immediate benchmark inside Alpine. The Frenchman had 187 Formula 1 entries, one win and six podiums, and he was 10th in the 2026 standings on 41 points at that stage.
