Max Verstappen took Chinese Grand Prix 2024 pole at Shanghai by 0.322s from Sergio Pérez as Red Bull locked out the front row on 21 April.

Max Verstappen took pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit with a Q3 lap of 1:33.660. Sergio Pérez secured second for Red Bull on 1:33.982, leaving the team with a front-row lockout on 21 April 2024.

Qualifying

Fernando Alonso qualified third for Aston Martin with a best Q3 time of 1:34.148. Lando Norris took fourth for McLaren on 1:34.165, and Oscar Piastri followed in fifth on 1:34.273.

Charles Leclerc placed sixth for Ferrari with a 1:34.289 in Q3. Carlos Sainz joined him on the fourth row in seventh on 1:34.297, while George Russell qualified eighth for Mercedes with a 1:34.433.

Front row

Verstappen led every phase for Red Bull with a 1:34.742 in Q1, a 1:33.794 in Q2 and a 1:33.660 in Q3. Pérez progressed with a 1:35.457 in Q1 and a 1:34.026 in Q2 before taking second with his 1:33.982 final lap.

Top 10

Nico Hülkenberg reached Q3 for Haas F1 Team and qualified ninth with a 1:34.604. Valtteri Bottas completed the top 10 for Sauber on 1:34.665 after posting 1:35.169 in Q1 and 1:34.769 in Q2.
