George Russell won the Canadian Grand Prix by 0.228s from Max Verstappen, while Oscar Piastri stayed top of the drivers' championship after round 10.

George Russell won the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on 15 June 2025, finishing 0.228s ahead of Max Verstappen. The Mercedes driver started from pole position, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli completed the podium in third for Mercedes.

Race

Russell converted P1 on the grid into victory with a race time of 1:31:52.688, and Verstappen followed him home from second on the grid at +0.228. Antonelli started fourth and finished third at +1.014, while Oscar Piastri dropped one place from third on the grid to fourth at +2.109.

Charles Leclerc gained three places for Ferrari by moving from eighth on the grid to fifth at +3.442, and Lewis Hamilton finished sixth from fifth on the grid at +10.713 in the second Ferrari. Fernando Alonso took seventh for Aston Martin from sixth on the grid, while Nico Hülkenberg climbed from 11th to eighth for Sauber.

Esteban Ocon scored two points for Haas F1 Team in ninth after starting 14th, and Carlos Sainz took the final point for Williams in 10th from 16th on the grid. Ocon and Sainz were both classified a lap down.

Championship

Piastri left round 10 still leading the drivers' championship on 198 points despite finishing fourth in Montreal. Lando Norris remained second in the standings on 176 points, and Verstappen stayed third on 155 points after taking 18 points for second place.

Fastest lap

Russell added the fastest lap to the win with a 1:14.119 on lap 63. That lap underlined a day on which Mercedes placed two cars on the podium with Russell first and Antonelli third.
