Canadian Grand Prix 2025: Russell takes pole
George Russell took pole for the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix by 0.160s over Max Verstappen, with Mercedes also putting Andrea Kimi Antonelli fourth.
George Russell took pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on 15 June 2025 with a Q3 lap of 1:10.899. Max Verstappen qualified second for Red Bull on 1:11.059, 0.160s behind Russell.
Qualifying
Oscar Piastri secured third for McLaren with a best Q3 time of 1:11.120, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli put the second Mercedes fourth on 1:11.391. Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth for Ferrari with 1:11.526, and Fernando Alonso took sixth for Aston Martin with 1:11.586.
Lando Norris ended the session seventh for McLaren on 1:11.625 after lapping 1:11.599 in Q2. Charles Leclerc qualified eighth for Ferrari with a Q3 time of 1:11.682, placing both Ferraris on the fourth row.
Grid
Isack Hadjar reached Q3 for RB F1 Team and took ninth with 1:11.867. Alexander Albon completed the top 10 for Williams on 1:11.907.
At round 10 of the 2025 season, Mercedes placed two cars in the top four with Russell on pole and Antonelli fourth. McLaren also put both cars in the top seven, with Piastri third and Norris seventh at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
