2026 British GP: Antonelli takes Silverstone pole

Andrea Kimi Antonelli took pole position for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with BBC Sport, Autosport and RaceFans all reporting that the Mercedes driver beat Charles Leclerc, while Lewis Hamilton qualified third. Autosport reported that it was Antonelli’s fifth pole of the 2026 season and his first since the Monaco Grand Prix.
RaceFans reported that Antonelli headed the Ferrari pair on the grid, with team-mate George Russell fourth. Antonelli arrived at Silverstone leading the drivers’ championship on 179 points, with Russell second on 154, Hamilton third on 147 and Leclerc fourth on 108.
The result added another pole to Antonelli’s Formula 1 record. Across 33 entries for Mercedes in 2025 and 2026, the Italian now has five wins, five poles and 10 podiums.
