News - 2026-07-13 - By Jenny Marsh

Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix from George Russell and Lewis Hamilton after a late safety-car finish and post-race steward calls.

Charles Leclerc won the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with George Russell second and Lewis Hamilton third, as reported by BBC Sport and RaceFans. Leclerc went into the weekend fourth in the drivers' championship on 108 points, with Russell second on 154, Hamilton third on 147 and Andrea Kimi Antonelli leading on 179.

BBC Sport, Autosport and RaceFans reported that the race ended behind the safety car after Max Verstappen crashed with six laps remaining. Those outlets also reported that a software error briefly suggested there could be one final racing lap before the FIA kept the field under safety-car conditions to the flag; BBC Sport added that Antonelli and Verstappen failed to score.

Hamilton kept third after stewards issued a reprimand over a yellow-flag matter, according to Autosport and RaceFans. Autosport and RaceFans also reported that Carlos Sainz received a rare penalty linked to an incorrect unlapping move under the safety car.
